Why Local Probiotics? Why Preobio?
What are probiotics and why are they beneficial?

According to the World Health Organization, health is not merely the absence of disease and infirmity; it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Considering this definition, the relationship between nutrition and health becomes even more crucial. Especially today, as medical science evolves from therapeutic to preventative medicine, the concept of nutrition must also be redefined. The concept of functional food emerged as a result of this quest and has quickly become a trend.
The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance, cancer, and allergic diseases among the aging population has led to the development of functional foods as a preventative medicine. With the motto "Our food is our medicine, and our medicine is our food," many functional foods are beginning to enter the market.
The term probiotic comes from the Greek word "pro bios," meaning "for life." According to the World Health Organization, probiotics are living microorganisms that, when consumed in adequate amounts, confer beneficial health effects on the host.
Our story...
Centuries ago, when we were a nomadic society, we came to this region and established new settled lives. Our ancestors quickly adapted to the Anatolian landscape and climate. The reason we adapted so quickly from nomadic society to settled life was the little friends our ancestors unknowingly brought with them. They brought with them fermented products like pickles, sautéed meats, kefir, and yogurt, introducing probiotics to this region, which continue to be a source of life for us today. Our access to these traditional probiotics, the guarantee of our healthy generations, came with industrial life.

It has become extremely difficult. Preobio is bringing probiotics to our tables by launching a program to collect and isolate local probiotics for the first time in Türkiye. Preobio, which offers yeast products containing local probiotics that are fully compatible with our intestines, continues its journey with the support of TÜBİTAK MAM.
